About the String of Hearts
String of Hearts (Ceropegia woodii) is a trailing succulent vine native to South Africa, Eswatini, and Zimbabwe, where it grows on rocky outcrops and in light woodland. Its thin, wiry stems trail or cascade up to 2 meters, bearing pairs of small, heart-shaped leaves with marbled silvery-green patterns on top and purplish undersides. Small tubers form along the stems at nodes. The plant produces delicate, tubular, pinkish-purple flowers shaped like tiny lanterns. Often called Rosary Vine for its beaded appearance, its romantic cascading form makes it exceptionally popular for hanging planters and high shelves.

Care Tips
Provide bright indirect light with some direct morning sun; good light keeps the leaf patterning vivid and the growth compact. Plant in a well-draining succulent mix with added perlite. Water when the soil has dried out completely -- the tubers and semi-succulent leaves store water, so err toward underwatering. Overwatering causes yellowing leaves and tuber rot. Average household humidity is sufficient. Feed monthly during the growing season with a diluted succulent fertilizer. Propagate by placing a section of stem with tubers on moist soil, by water-propagating stem cuttings, or by planting the small aerial tubers.
