About the Peperomia Hope
Peperomia Hope is a hybrid between Peperomia deppeana and Peperomia quadrifolia, combining the best traits of both parents. It features trailing stems adorned with small, round, succulent-like leaves in groups of three or four at each node. The leaves are soft green with faint lighter striping and have a fleshy texture that stores water. Its compact, trailing habit makes it ideal for hanging baskets, small shelves, or terrariums. Native parentage comes from Central and South American tropical forests. It is non-toxic to pets and has a gentle, restrained growth habit.
Origin: Central America
Care Tips
Provide medium to bright indirect light; avoid direct sun which can scorch the small leaves. Water when the soil has mostly dried out -- Peperomia Hope stores water in its fleshy leaves, making it moderately drought-tolerant. Overwatering and soggy soil quickly lead to root rot. Use a well-draining mix of peat, perlite, and orchid bark. Average room humidity is sufficient, though slightly elevated humidity encourages lusher growth. Feed monthly in spring and summer with a diluted balanced fertilizer. Propagate by placing stem cuttings with a few leaf nodes in moist soil or water.
