About the Spider Plant
The Spider Plant (Chlorophytum comosum) originates from the tropical and subtropical regions of South Africa, where it grows as a ground cover beneath forest canopies. Its arching, grass-like leaves are typically green with a central white or cream stripe, forming a graceful fountain shape. Mature plants send out long, wiry stolons bearing small white flowers followed by miniature plantlets (spiderettes) that dangle like spiders on a web. Pet-safe and excellent at removing indoor air pollutants, it has been a beloved houseplant since the Victorian era.

Care Tips
Grows best in bright indirect light but adapts to medium and even low light conditions; direct sun can scorch leaf tips. Water regularly, allowing the top centimeter of soil to dry between waterings. Brown leaf tips are common and usually caused by fluoride in tap water -- use filtered or rainwater if possible. Spider Plants enjoy average humidity and moderate temperatures between 13-27C. Feed monthly during spring and summer with a half-strength balanced fertilizer. Propagate by potting up the dangling plantlets directly into soil or rooting them in water first.
