About the Heartleaf Philodendron
The Heartleaf Philodendron (Philodendron hederaceum) is native to the tropical rainforests of Central America and the Caribbean, where it climbs trees and scrambles across the forest floor. Its trailing stems bear glossy, deep green, heart-shaped leaves typically 7-10 cm across. The foliage emerges with a bronze tint before maturing to rich green. One of the most adaptable and forgiving indoor plants, it thrives in a range of light conditions and handles occasional neglect. It works beautifully as a trailing specimen in hanging baskets or trained to climb a moss pole or trellis.

Care Tips
Performs well in low to bright indirect light, though very low light may cause leggy growth with smaller leaves. Water when the top 2-3 cm of soil is dry; yellowing leaves typically indicate overwatering. Average room humidity is adequate, but higher humidity promotes larger, glossier leaves. Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer. Pinch stem tips regularly to encourage branching and fuller growth. Propagate easily by snipping stem cuttings below a node and rooting them in water or moist soil. Watch for mealybugs on stems and leaf axils.
