About the Ficus Audrey
Ficus Audrey (Ficus benghalensis) is the national tree of India, where it grows as a massive banyan tree with spreading aerial roots that form secondary trunks, eventually covering acres. As a houseplant, it stays much more manageable, developing an upright, tree-form habit with velvety, matte green leaves that have prominent pale midribs and a soft, suede-like texture. The trunk is pale grey and smooth. Often recommended as a more forgiving alternative to the Fiddle Leaf Fig, Ficus Audrey adapts better to indoor conditions, tolerates some fluctuation, and recovers more gracefully from imperfect care.

Care Tips
Provide bright indirect light with some direct morning sun for best growth. Water when the top 2-3 cm of soil is dry, allowing moderate drying between waterings. Like other Ficus, it may drop leaves in response to being moved or sudden environmental changes, but recovers faster than Fiddle Leaf Fig. Average to high humidity is appreciated. Feed monthly during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertilizer. Wipe the velvety leaves gently with a dry cloth to remove dust. Prune in spring to control shape and encourage branching. Propagate by stem cuttings or air layering. Watch for mealybugs and scale.
