Peperomia Rosso (Peperomia caperata 'Rosso') is a cultivar of a species native to the Atlantic coastal forests of Brazil. It forms a compact, symmetrical rosette of deeply corrugated, lance-shaped leaves. The tops are dark green with a metallic sheen, while the undersides display a striking deep red-burgundy that is visible as the leaves angle outward. This dramatic color contrast creates an ornamental effect resembling a dark flower. Small, cream-colored, tail-like flower spikes emerge above the foliage. Its sculptural form, rich coloring, and compact growth habit (15-20 cm) make it an elegant desktop or shelf accent plant.

Care Tips
Provide medium to bright indirect light to maintain the red coloring on leaf undersides; low light causes the red to fade. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch the textured leaves. Water when the top 2-3 cm of soil is dry; overwatering leads to mushy stems and root rot. Use a well-draining mix with extra perlite. Average household humidity is fine. Feed monthly during the growing season with a diluted balanced fertilizer at half strength. The compact form rarely needs pruning. This plant is pet-safe. Propagate by leaf cuttings: place a leaf with its stem in moist soil and keep warm until new growth appears.
