About the Begonia Angel Wing
Angel Wing Begonia (Begonia coccinea x Begonia aconitifolia hybrids) is a cane-type begonia with parents originating from the coastal mountains of Brazil. Its large, asymmetrical leaves are shaped like angel wings with pointed tips and often feature silver spots, speckles, or metallic sheens over dark green, with red to burgundy undersides. Upright, bamboo-like stems can reach 60-120 cm indoors. The plant produces pendulous clusters of flowers in red, pink, orange, or white, blooming repeatedly when conditions are favorable. The combination of spotted foliage, colorful flowers, and architectural cane growth makes it one of the most ornamental begonia types.

Care Tips
Provide bright indirect light for best flowering and leaf coloring; some filtered direct morning sun is beneficial. Water when the top 2-3 cm of soil is dry, keeping soil moderately moist but never soggy. Begonias are prone to stem rot in waterlogged conditions. Moderate to high humidity promotes flowering and prevents crispy leaf edges. Feed every 2 weeks during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertilizer; switch to a high-phosphorus formula to encourage blooms. Pinch growing tips to encourage branching and a fuller shape. Support tall canes with stakes. Propagate easily by stem cuttings rooted in water.
