About the Echeveria
Echeveria is a large genus of succulent plants native to the semi-desert regions of Mexico and Central America, with over 150 species. They form symmetrical rosettes of fleshy, spoon-shaped leaves in a remarkable range of colors -- from powdery blue-grey and sage green to lavender, pink, and near-black. Many species develop a powdery farina coating that protects against sun and moisture loss. In favorable conditions, they produce arching stems of bell-shaped flowers in orange, pink, or yellow. Their compact rosette form and palette of pastel colors make them favorites for windowsill collections and succulent arrangements.

Care Tips
Require bright light with several hours of direct sun daily to maintain compact rosette form and best coloring; insufficient light causes etiolation (stretching). Plant in a gritty, fast-draining succulent mix. Water thoroughly but infrequently, allowing the soil to dry completely -- roughly every 10-14 days in summer and monthly in winter. Always water the soil directly, never the rosette, as trapped moisture causes rot. Avoid touching the farina coating on leaves, as it does not regenerate. Feed 2-3 times during the growing season with a diluted succulent fertilizer. Propagate easily from leaf cuttings or offsets.
