About the San Pedro Cactus
The San Pedro Cactus (Echinopsis pachanoi) is a columnar cactus native to the Andes Mountains of Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, and Colombia, where it grows at elevations of 2,000-3,000 meters. It features tall, multi-ribbed, blue-green columns that can grow 30-60 cm per year in ideal conditions, making it one of the fastest-growing columnar cacti. Mature stems have 6-8 rounded ribs with small areoles bearing short spines. Large, fragrant, white flowers up to 22 cm across open at night on mature specimens. It has been used in traditional Andean medicine and ceremony for thousands of years.

Care Tips
Provide maximum bright light with direct sun for strong, upright growth; insufficient light causes thin, etiolated growth. Plant in a well-draining cactus mix. Water regularly during the growing season, allowing the soil to dry between waterings -- more frequently than most cacti due to its fast growth. Reduce watering significantly in winter. Feed monthly during the growing season with a balanced cactus fertilizer to support rapid growth. Tolerates cooler temperatures than many cacti, down to near-freezing briefly. Propagate easily by cutting a section of column, letting it callus for a week, and planting upright in slightly moist soil.
