About the Kangaroo Fern
The Kangaroo Fern (Microsorum pustulatum, sometimes sold as Microsorum diversifolium) is native to the temperate and subtropical forests of Australia and New Zealand, where it grows as an epiphyte on tree trunks and rocks. Its glossy, leathery fronds are deeply lobed or pinnate, darker green and more robust than many tropical ferns. A furry, creeping rhizome visible at the soil surface gives the plant a rugged, natural appearance. More tolerant of lower humidity and occasional dryness than most ferns, the Kangaroo Fern is an excellent choice for growers who find Boston and Maidenhair ferns too demanding.

Care Tips
Prefers medium indirect light; tolerates lower light better than many ferns but avoid direct sun. Water when the top couple centimeters of soil feel dry -- more drought-tolerant than most ferns, thanks to its thick rhizome and leathery fronds, but do not let it dry out completely. Average household humidity is usually sufficient, though higher humidity encourages more vigorous growth. Feed monthly in spring and summer with a diluted liquid fertilizer. Do not bury the creeping rhizome when potting -- it should sit on the soil surface. Propagate by dividing the rhizome, ensuring each section has fronds and roots attached.
