PlantFinder started in 2026 with a simple mission: help people find the right houseplant for their lifestyle. We noticed that many plant guides were either too technical or too superficial — so we built something better.
Every plant page includes honest information about care requirements, pet safety, and difficulty level. No fluff, no marketing — just practical advice from plant lovers to plant lovers.

The PlantFinder Team
Indoor gardening writers and researchers
PlantFinder is written and maintained by the PlantFinder Team — a small group of indoor gardening enthusiasts with combined decades of experience growing, propagating and troubleshooting houseplants. Between us we have kept most of the species profiled on this site alive through repottings, pest outbreaks, apartment moves and more than one overwatering incident we would rather not discuss.
That hands-on experience is the starting point, not the whole story. Every care recommendation is checked against horticultural references and grower guidance before it goes live, because what works on one windowsill is not always what works on yours.
We do not accept payment for placement or reviews, and no plant profile is sponsored.
How We Research Our Care Guides
Care ratings are consistent, not guesswork
Light, water and humidity are scored on the same 1–5 scale for every plant, so a “medium light” Calathea and a “medium light” Peperomia genuinely mean the same thing. That is what makes the comparison and filtering tools trustworthy.
Toxicity is reported conservatively
Pet-safety information follows published toxic-plant data from veterinary poison resources. Where sources disagree, we mark the plant as unsafe. If a plant is listed as toxic here, keep it away from pets and call your vet if it is eaten — this site is not veterinary advice.
We correct things
Plant care advice ages, and we get things wrong like anyone else. Pages are revised when we learn something better, and the date on each guide reflects its last review. Spotted an error? Tell us and we will fix it.
